What are RSS and Atom?
RSS and Atom are widely used on the Internet for helping people keep up-to-date
with the latest news and announcements from any number of places. By using a desktop
"aggregator" program you can combine the RSS or Atom "feeds" from many different
sites to get the latest information you are interested in.
RSS and Atom support in MPNews
MPNews can produce RSS and Atom feeds for each forum, allowing your users to get
easy and immediate access to the latest messages on your forums from their favourite
RSS reader.
As well as reading messages via RSS and Atom, MPNews also supports common blogging
APIs such as the Blogger, MetaWebLog, Atom and Comment APIs to allow your users
to post new messages and comments from within their RSS reader, bringing a much
greater level of interactivity to your site.
RSS to NNTP gateway
MPNews can also act as an RSS to NNTP or web forum gateway, downloading RSS or Atom
feeds from other sites and importing them into your forums and even posting new
messages from your forums back to the original blog.
