What are Mailing Lists?
A mailing list is a central point that you can send an e-mail to, and it immediately
gets sent out to other interested subscribers. They can then reply to your e-mail
via the list, and so everyone who is subscribed gets involved in the e-mail conversation
without each individual having to remember or even know who is subscribed.
MPNews support for Mailing Lists
MPNews provides support for mailing lists in two forms - internal and external.
In internal mode, MPNews provides all the list functionality itself, receiving the
incoming e-mails and distributing them to other subscribers, and providing the subscribe
and unsubscribe options for list management. In external mode, MPNews acts as a
regular subscriber to an existing mailing list, essentially providing an e-mail
to NNTP and web forum gateway.
Each mailing list is associated with an MPNews forum, so you can also access the
mailing list as an NNTP newsgroup or web forum according to your choice.
