All forums have to deal with the problem of unwanted or inappropriate messages,
but with MPNews the burden is lightened with a powerful system of automatic filtering.
MPNews is provided with a set of configurable filtering rules, which the administrator
can combine as they see fit to limit the type of messages that can be posted. Because
these rules can be combined in different ways, and with different options set for
each one, very specific rules can be created with no need for complex programming.
As well as creating filters to reject unwanted messages, you can define a set of
other actions to take place instead when a message is picked up by the filter. For
example, you may wish to alter the message in some way, by adding or removing headers,
or you may want to add details of the message into a database.
Plugins
As well as the rules and actions supplied with MPNews by default, there is a comprehensive
plugin system available for writing your own. A number of samples are provided to
help you get started, and we have some more ready-made
for you to buy. If you want a custom plugin but don't want to write it yourself,
we also provide a customization facility.
